Genuine Fairtrade Clothing

All our products are made by IFAT-registered manufactures. Because of the recent certification of fairtrade cotton, some of our newest products are also made from certified fairtrade cotton. "SUPPORTS FAIR TRADE" is printed on all our washcare labels.

Made from Organic Cotton

You'll also find "100% ORGANIC COTTON" written on these labels. 10% of the world's nasty chemical pesticides are used on cotton plants, but we are pleased to say Ralper cotton was grown without them.

About Fairtrade

1. What's wrong with normal trade

In recent years, many clothing companies have been exposed. The people that sew their garments together (in poor southern countries) receive next-to-nothing pay and work in shocking sweatshops. The glossy fronts of our high streets hide this production process, but reports from behind the scenes have given us all this insight.

2. What makes a product Fairtrade?

Fairtrade products are different because the employees who make them are treated differently. Unlike in most conventional trade, fairtrade clothing is made by workers who receive a fair wage and work in reasonable working conditions.

Fairtrade organisations do many things to support the poor, including campaigning for changes in international trade.

3. Buying Fairtrade

Choosing fairtrade food products in your supermarkets has been made easier by the presence of the fairtrade label (right).

Since November 2006, clothing products can also use this same label. For now it applies to the farming of the cotton used to make the garments. In the future, the label will also certify the fairtrade manufacture of the clothes.
